Join the Galveston Pachyderms for our May meeting with our Guest Speaker Dr Robin Armstrong, RNC National Committeeman
Guest Speaker: Dr Robin Armstrong
In 2022, Galveston County was sued over new maps for County Commissioner Precincts that were redrawn following the 2020 census. The redistricting plan eliminated the lone Democrat commissioner’s majority-minority precinct of blacks and Hispanics. Two years later, Galveston County won a major redistricting case that could shift dozens of political seats in Texas and elsewhere from Democrats to Republicans, at all levels of government. Come hear Galveston County Commissioner, Dr. Robin Armstrong, on the impact to Texas if districts are re-drawn across the state.
Robin has been involved in Texas politics for years serving locally as a precinct chair while in his medical residency. He has served as an Election Judge, a city chair, as an Executive Committee member of the Republican Party of Texas (SREC), and as Vice Chair of the Republican Party of Texas. In June 2012, he was elected to the Republican National Committee (RNC) as Texas’ National Committeeman, where he serves today as Vice Chair of the Southern Region of the RNC, Rules Committee member, and on the Faith Advisory Board of the RNC. He was elected as County Commissioner in 2024.
Robin also currently serves on the Finance Commission of Texas where he was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott on April 2, 2019. The Finance Commission is the state regulatory agency for the banking industry and savings and loan industry.
A native of Galveston County, Dr. Armstrong was born in Texas City, graduated from La Marque High School in 1987 and earned a degree in microbiology in 1991 from Texas A&M University. He then attended medical school and completed residency at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
Robin practices medicine in Galveston County and is an owner of Armstrong Medical Group, which is a group of hospital and nursing home physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Robin has been involved at all levels of hospital leadership including on the Board of Directors of the hospital, President of the Medical Staff, Chief of Staff, Chair of Internal Medicine.
He has been married to Martha Armstrong for 24 years and has four sons, Daniel, Gabriel, Joshua, and Noah.
