Since taking office, Commissioner Christian has been appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission as the Official Representative of Texas. Former Texas Real Estate Commissioner, Weston Martinez and Alamo Defender kicks-off his campaign by honoring America’s Fallen on Memorial Day, he announced his campaign for Land Commissioner. Martinez said he is a “conservative leader, grassroots activist, businessman [and] Alamo defender.”As Land Commissioner, Martinez will also serve as the Chairman of the Texas Veterans Land Board which oversees a host of programs supporting Texas’ veterans, active-duty military members, as well as the family members of deceased veterans and active-duty military members who are killed or die while in action. “There is no elected office in Texas government more closely engaged in supporting our veterans and their families or in honoring those heroes who have given so much to our state and nation than that of Commissioner of the General Land Office.
