We will share our very recent trip to the border, as the grassroots representatives for the Texas Border Security Coalition.
In 2021, Grassroots Gold executed a “proof-of-concept” during the 87th Regular and 3 special sessions, connecting multiple and diverse liberty groups within Texas to “show up” at the Capitol, giving key legislation “legs.” More than 2,500 grassroots advocates participated in our more than a dozen in-person, live-engagement training opportunities, hearing policy discussions, providing testimony in hearings, and walking the Capitol halls and visiting with legislators and their staff.

Tamara Colbert´s professional experience in public relations and media includes non-profit businesses, Fortune 1000 and technology start-ups. As a communications leader, she has worked in 70 countries building and training communications teams-sometimes on three continents simultaneously, as well as a documentary film producer.
In 2009, Tamara started a tea party thus launching a secondary career and passion rooted in policy creation and grassroots advocacy. This path led her to volunteer as the first state director for the Convention of States Project Texas in 2013 after it launched. Along with her co-director, Paul Hodson, together they helped build one of the largest grassroots armies in Texas.
After logging thousands of miles in the 84th & 85th sessions (plus the Special Session) on the soles of her Lucchese´s at the Texas Capitol, the COS Texas activists worked with all Republican state representatives and state senators in successfully passing their Article V resolution on May 4, 2017, with 289 activists sitting the gallery representing 81 house districts.
Anchored in the firm belief that we have a Republic if we can keep it, she and co-founder Paul Hodson launched Grassroots Gold to set the gold standard in citizen advocacy, engagement and training.
The 12th great granddaughter of Captain Miles Standish, Tamara is a wife and mother of three boys, including one serving in the U.S. Air Force and identical twins. Among her other personal interests is her fascination of U.S. history and Agent 355, extreme sports and a special fondness and passion for the cause of freedom.
Paul stepped into the activism arena in 2008 while block walking for a Texas county commissioner challenger. Since 2010, Paul has served as an election judge in Johnson County.
In 2013, Paul volunteered to “make a phone call and send an email” to his state legislators encouraging them to support the new Convention of States resolution. This decision proved to be a springboard to grassroots activism and leadership, as Paul held roles of District Captain, State Co-Director, and Regional Director with the Convention of States over 6 years. Paul was blessed to work with grassroots in the passage of legislation in Texas, Utah and Arkansas, testified in the Idaho legislature, and along with liberty partner Tamara Colbert provided national training to leaders from 24 different states.
When career responsibilities increased, Paul stepped back from national efforts, joined with liberty partner Tamara Colbert, and launched Grassroots Gold, a collaborative, umbrella organization for grassroots efforts in Texas.
