All Guests Welcome:
Join the Galveston Pachyderms for our May 16th Meeting with Dr. Craig Brown
Guest Speaker: Galveston Mayor Craig Brown
Craig and his wife Angela first started visiting Galveston on the weekends when he was in Dental School in Houston in 1967. Weekend visits grew into longer visits and eventually led to moving full time to Galveston 26 years ago. While in Houston Craig served in many Dental organizations culminating with him being elected as President of the Greater Houston Dental Society.
Following their move from Houston, Craig and Angela first settled on the West End of the Island but quickly found themselves more attracted to the charm and community of the San Jacinto District where they remodeled an Historic home and Made the San Jacinto Neighborhood their home 21 years ago.
Once they settled into neighborhood living Craig became interested in volunteering his time first with community organizations and then as an appointee to the Planning Commission where he served as Chairman for 5 years. He also has served on the Landmark Commission and the Historic Downtown Strand Seaport Partnership for many years, and as the Chairman of the Park Board for 5 years.
In 2014 Craig was honored to be elected as the Council Representative for District 2 and served in that position for 6 years. Following his term as City Council Representative he was elected as Mayor of Galveston in 2020 and currently serves as the Mayor of Galveston following his election for his third term.
These positions have allowed him to gain a broad perspective of the City's governmental process and to build alliances throughout the community that have served him and the community well in representing the citizens of Galveston.
