When the 2010 primary came, Barack Obama had been president for a little over a year. He was not the first Democratic president the nation had seen, and most people expected him to be much like the ones who had come before: left-leaning but pragmatic. However, this was a very different Democrat. He was much further to the left than those who had come before and bolder in pushing his social agenda on the nation. Ken Moore had never been politically active but saw this new president as a growing threat to our freedoms and culture, and decided it was time to get off the bench.
Ken attended his first precinct convention during that 2010 primary. He became a delegate to the SD convention and later a delegate to the Republican State convention. Later, he became precinct chair for Pct. 793 in Harris County and worked several elections as an election judge. A few years after that, he was elected to sit on the HCRP Ballot Security committee, which was then chaired by the late, great Alan Vera. Ken gained a lot of experience recruiting and mentoring election workers and learned a lot about securing elections.
In 2018, Ken and his wife, Judy, moved from Harris County to Brazoria County. He ran for and was elected as the Republican Precinct chair for Pct. 46. At that time, the county party did not have a committee dedicated to protecting elections, but the county chair was of a mind to start one. Because of Ken’s experience in Harris County, the county chair asked him to set up and chair the committee. Ken has served in that capacity since late 2018.
In 2022, Ken ran for and was elected to the State Republican Executive Committee by the state delegates of Senate District 11 and was then appointed to the SREC Election Integrity committee. While serving on that committee, he reviewed a number of election bills being considered in the Texas Legislature and gave his recommendations to the state party on which bills to support and not support. During the 88th Texas legislature, Ken spent a lot of time in Austin talking to lawmakers and testifying before committees.
Over the years, Ken has testified before numerous committees of the Texas legislature, the Harris County Commissioners Court, the Harris County Election Commission, Alvin City Council, and various committees at the Republican State convention and has organized several training classes for local grassroots activists.
Ken and his wife have two children and five grandchildren and are members of the Southside Church of Christ in Pasadena, Texas. Ken has taught a number of Bible classes and often preaches for small congregations.
